668 documented problems · drawn from real support threads
Most of these cases were lost to a clock nobody mentioned.
A troubleshooting reference built from real Seller Central case conversations — not help-page theory. Every entry shows the problem, the fix that actually worked, and the approaches that wasted weeks. Read the clocks first. In case after case, the damage came from missing a deadline, not from the original problem.
The clocks
every window found in the case dataEscalation
Support isn't resolving it and you've run out of replies
Some accounts have a dedicated Account Manager holding a permanently open "Primary Case" that exists purely as an escalation channel. Most sellers never learn it's there.
Raise a normal Seller Support case first. If nothing moves after 48 hours, escalate through the Primary Case — and quote the original Case ID, which is mandatory.
Going to the Primary Case first. It escalates existing cases; with no case ID it has nothing to act on.
ASIN restricted, but no appeal button appears
ASINs pulled for a policy compliance issue, and the Account Health dashboard shows no way to contest it — a penalty with no visible route out.
The Account Health Specialist team, reachable from Seller Central → Performance → Account Health even when no appeal option is shown.
Hunting for an appeal control on the listing or inside the case. When the button is absent, the specialist team is the only path.
The same holding message, over and over
Removal orders dispatched but never delivered. Amazon sent an identical "we are currently researching your issue" reply five separate times across the thread.
Nothing in that thread. Recognise the pattern: after the same holding template twice, the case is parked with a back-end team and the agent has no lever. Preserve your dispatch evidence and open a separate reimbursement claim under its own window.
Requesting callbacks, writing in capitals, re-attaching files, escalating tone. None of it moved a parked case.
Fees & weights
Charged for 1 kg on a 0.5 kg product
Weight handling fees billed at the wrong slab on every single order — margin leaking continuously while the case sat open for months.
Amazon engages an internal team on the discrepancy, then reviews reimbursement for previous orders alongside a system update so future charges are correct. Both parts matter.
Waiting for it to self-correct. File the day you notice — the recovery covers past orders too.
Your product's recorded size is wrong
Fulfilment fees calculated from a size tier that doesn't match the actual product.
Submit a re-measurement request against the FNSKU. Amazon answers most within 10 days and nothing is needed from you meanwhile. Verify at Inventory → fulfilment fee per unit sold.
Assuming the corrected tier refunds what you've already paid. It doesn't — past overcharges need a separate, explicit request.
Referral fee charged at the wrong category rate
The referral category applied to an ASIN didn't match the product, inflating every sale.
Two separate actions. Amazon corrects the category, which fixes future fees — then you complete and submit their reimbursement template to recover the historic difference.
Stopping once the category was fixed. Sellers who do that lose everything already overcharged.
Shipping charge far above what the parcel should cost
Easy Ship charges wildly out of line with the product's actual weight and dimensions.
Amazon verifies the charge against real weight and dimensions under the Easy Ship fee structure, and reimburses the overcharge.
Opening with a bare "I want reimbursement". Lead with weight and dimensions and you skip several rounds.
MCF fees when you have no MCF orders
Multi-Channel Fulfilment charges appearing on an account the seller believed had none.
MCF is billed per unit shipped through Amazon's network for non-Amazon sales channels. Check for orders routed that way before disputing — they're easy to miss.
Listings & catalogue
Error 5885 when creating a listing
Listing creation blocked. The seller insisted repeatedly they were changing nothing about the existing detail page — and they were right.
Understanding the actual rule: you're attempting to contribute to a restricted generic ASIN you haven't contributed to before. Creating an offer counts as contributing, even with zero data edits. Extending to a new store, adding a variation or updating attributes each need a separate route.
Insisting you changed nothing — accurate but beside the point. The error code can also change mid-case while the cause stays identical.
ASIN doesn't appear in search
Listing live, indexed, apparently healthy — and invisible to buyers. Raised as a search problem across many tickets over a long period.
It was a tax problem. A missing or incomplete GSTIN for the state being sold from. Fix in tax settings: confirm the ship-from address and that the correct GSTIN and PAN are attached to it.
Treating it as a listing or indexing fault. Nothing in the symptom points at tax settings, which is exactly why it took so long.
Safety Data Sheet won't update on the product page
A hazmat ASIN stuck in limbo, with the SDS refusing to attach no matter how often it was re-uploaded.
Fixing something else entirely. Fulfilment classification was stuck at "unable to classify" because the detail page images didn't match the product description. Clearing that mismatch unblocked everything downstream.
Re-uploading the SDS, repeatedly, for dozens of turns. The document was never the problem.
Listing suppressed over trademark text
ASINs removed for suspected IP infringement even though the seller held Brand Registry and a trademark certificate.
Correcting the brand name in Manage Inventory, or removing the trademarked term. For compatible or replacement products, retitle as: [Your Brand] + "Compatible/Replacement for" + [Product] + [Brand] + [Model].
Relying on Brand Registry to prevent takedown — it doesn't. A compound brand name was also rejected as invalid.
A+ Content disappeared and won't recreate
Published A+ content gone from the detail page, and every attempt to rebuild it throws an error.
Brand Registry removing the retail contribution on the ASIN — meaning Amazon Retail holds catalogue rights there, which locks you out of your own content. Only support can clear it. Wait 24 hours before retrying.
Listing is stranded
Inventory exists, the listing doesn't.
Naming the exact SKU in the first message.
A one-line "this ASIN is stranded". Where several SKUs sit on one ASIN, support's first reply is to ask which — and cases auto-close on silence.
Price won't update, listing inactive
Edits refused because of a potential high-pricing error, with nothing explaining what to do.
Setting a minimum and maximum price in Manage Inventory. The block is completely silent — nothing tells you this is the fix.
Feed error 8560 on a new SKU
Listing feed fails and the error text doesn't say what's absent.
Supplying a standard_product_id — UPC, EAN, ISBN or JAN. It's mandatory when the SKU matches no existing ASIN.
Your evidence vanished with the case
Documents submitted against a case that Amazon then marked resolved.
Opening a new case and resubmitting.
Replying to the closed case. Documents filed against a resolved case can't be reviewed, and reopens aren't monitored.
Brand & barcodes
Brand approved, products still unlistable
Approval to sell a gated brand granted — and the listing still blocked.
Documents from your supplier's supplier: invoices, receipts, contracts or delivery orders; or E-Way Bills and GSTR2A extracts tied to the invoice; or authorisation letters issued within the last 365 days.
Assuming brand approval and sourcing-document approval are the same gate. They're separate, and the second reaches two levels up your supply chain.
Can't ship using manufacturer barcodes
Blocked from shipping with manufacturer barcodes despite being the registered brand owner.
Amazon investigating barcode preference settings, FNSKU mapping conflicts and commingling eligibility for the affected ASINs. Supply a screenshot of the exact error plus evidence of your Brand Registry role.
FBA & reimbursement
Fewer units received than you sent
Shipment inwarded at the fulfilment centre with units missing.
The argument that won it: if the received weight matches the manifest exactly, the discrepancy is an inbound loss, and the shipment qualifies for reimbursement of all lost units by the ATS or FC team.
Filing one combined enquiry. Amazon splits these into one case per shipment ID — quote the matching case number for each or replies get misrouted.
Removal reimbursement goes nowhere
Damaged or wrong units returned under a removal order, with the claim stalling on every exchange.
Supplying the full evidence pack up front: Removal Order ID · FNSKU · feed or batch ID · count of damaged units per FNSKU · description of the problem and the damage.
Describing the situation in prose. One seller receiving completely unrelated products back had to escalate repeatedly before the itemised pack moved it.
Inventory stuck in reserved status
Units trapped in reserve, and requesting a removal pushed a further unit into reserve.
Resolving unit by unit against FNSKU, quoting each individually with unit counts.
Treating it as one ASIN-level problem. That's what makes these cases cycle.
Registering a new fulfilment centre or state
Sellers opening cases for something that needs no case at all.
Self-service: Settings → Account Info → Manage under Your Services → select your state → Register New FC under Fulfillment by Amazon.
"I already sent that screenshot"
A GST case where the seller had attached the requested evidence earlier in the very same ticket — and support asked for it again.
Re-attaching every time you're asked. Attachments earlier in a thread are frequently invisible to whichever agent is handling it now.
Pointing out that you already provided it. Correct, and it costs you another round trip.
Account health
Late shipment rate hit when you dispatched on time
Orders marked delayed despite being packed and handed over within the expected ship date.
Amazon confirming Amazon-controllable factors, which qualifies the order for metric modification. Applied automatically within 24–48 hours.
Waiting. It does not self-correct — you have to file.
Courier failed to collect a batch of orders
Fifteen orders left uncollected in a day despite a confirmed pickup slot.
Listing every affected order ID individually. That produced a per-order ruling, and several were confirmed as not affecting Late Dispatch Rate.
A general complaint about the courier. General complaints get general answers.
Risk banner won't go away
Late Dispatch Rate breached target after an electrical failure halted dispatch, leaving a warning banner in place.
Confirming no action was needed. The banner is system-generated and cannot be removed manually — watch the metric for two to three weeks and it clears itself.
Easy Ship pickup missed
Delivery agent doesn't arrive, and the metric damage lands on you.
The dedicated pickup-miss form, which triggers an investigation, a retry in the next slot, and reversal of any metrics affected.
Orders won't schedule and the agent never comes
Repeated collection failures, with the seller fearing account cancellation.
A phone callback. Give a number early — field operations problems get solved on calls.
Thirty turns of written escalation.
The defect notice you didn't answer in time
It runs as a ladder: advisory → offer suppressed → FC stock made unsellable → ASIN made unprocurable → the case channel closes to replies. Each rung is harder to climb back from.
A Plan of Action plus QC report, product images and user manual. India allows roughly 72 hours; the UK closes at 48.
A Plan of Action alone — rejected as "not in a complete and proper format". Also replying to a closed case. And documents attached to chat threads stop being downloadable, so keep your own copies.
Compliance
Battery documents accepted but nothing moves
Lithium battery ASINs blocked pending a UN38.3 test summary, with valid paperwork already submitted.
Renaming each document to reference the ASINs it covers, so the dangerous-goods team can match paperwork to listings.
Submitting correct documents with unhelpful filenames. Valid paperwork is necessary but not sufficient — the naming convention is part of the requirement.
Restricted product appeal that was never winnable
A full plan of action submitted against a restricted-product takedown, arguing the classification was wrong.
Nothing, and that's the lesson. The product contained Minoxidil — a prescription drug under Schedules H and H1 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, prohibited on amazon.in. Check ingredients against Schedule H/H1 before listing.
Appeal quality. No amount of it overcomes a statutory ban.
Tax & finance
Invoices in the GST portal but missing from Amazon's report
E-Invoice records that don't appear in Amazon's STR, blocking GSTR-1 filing.
Amazon supplying the individual invoice copies with ASIN, taxable value and GST breakup, for manual booking. The mismatch is real and they will hand over the data.
SAFE-T claim denied
One claim rejected while two identical claims on the same order were approved.
Appealing via View Message under Manage SAFE-T Claims, within five business days of the last resolution.
Appealing later. The window isn't displayed on the claims page, and after it passes no action is taken.
SAFE-T claims rejected for "exceed limit"
Many claims rejected with the same reason code, and re-appealing changed nothing.
Consolidating every affected order into a single case and asking for internal review of the underlying limit.
Re-appealing claims individually. "Exceed limit" reflects an account-level threshold, not a per-claim decision an appeal can overturn.
TDS refund rejected
Claims bounced as duplicates or refused on documentation.
Supplying the original Form 16A PDF, not a scan. Verify status via Payments → Transaction View, searching the order ID.
GSTIN update rejected
Tax registration refused on update.
Supplying an active, regular GST registration. Provisional or cancelled GSTINs are refused — confirm status on the GST portal first.
STEP benefit unavailable
Service Provider Network credits showing as unclaimable.
Knowing the eligibility: SPN credits are limited to Advanced and Premium STEP tiers, claimed at Performance → STEP → Benefit Dashboard. The claim window also expires.
Operations & other marketplaces
Returns still going to your old address
Premises moved; Seller Flex returns kept routing to the previous address for months.
Learning the constraint nobody stated: returns and pickup cannot have different addresses. One address serves both — correct the pickup address and returns follow.
Asking to change only the return address, which is structurally impossible. And filing through general Seller Support — Seller Flex issues belong in the Seller Flex portal.
Suspicious high-quantity order
A buyer placing an unusually large order that looks abusive.
Reporting it before shipping. Amazon auto-cancelled the order, reimbursed cancellation charges and reversed the cancellation-rate metric within 15 business days.
Waiting. All three protections depend on the goods never leaving.
Wrong tracking number, edit field greyed out
A tracking ID entered incorrectly, with no way to change it.
Nothing — but payment still released normally. Once the promised delivery date passes, or the order is marked delivered, carrier and tracking fields lock permanently.
Waiting to correct it. Fix tracking errors immediately or not at all.
Removals-damaged reimbursement refused
Units claimed as damaged on return under a removal order, with images supplied three times.
Understanding the framework: the window starts the day the shipment is delivered to you and runs 60 days.
Claiming outside it. Merit is irrelevant once the window closes. Amazon also cannot open a case on your behalf, and closed cases can't be revived.
Funds held and MCF stopped working
A balance held for months and Multi-Channel Fulfilment silently interrupted.
Fixing the payment method. Root cause was consistent failed charges on the account — a failing card quietly suspends MCF and strands your balance.
UK: restock and excess-inventory advisories
Amazon-initiated coaching rather than seller-raised problems — a different pattern from India entirely.
Treating them as actionable. Restock advisories flag bestsellers whose stock won't cover two weeks of forecast demand, tied to your IPI score. Excess-inventory warnings mean holding cost now exceeds the cost of acting.
Still stuck on your case?
We manage Amazon accounts, appeals and cataloguing for sellers across India, the US and Canada. If your case has stalled, talk to someone who has handled it before.
Where this comes from
Every entry comes from a complete Seller Central case conversation — the seller's own words and Amazon's actual reply — not from help documentation. Thread length is shown because it tells you how hard a problem is to move: a two-turn case is routine, a forty-turn case is a warning.
Cases marked still open were never resolved. They're included deliberately: knowing a case can stall indefinitely is worth as much as knowing how to fix one.
